Remote Provision
At Southwick Church of England Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils continue to receive a high-quality education if they are unable to attend school in person. Our remote education provision reflects our Christian values of care, inclusion and community, and supports pupils’ learning, wellbeing and spiritual development.
When Remote Education Is Provided
Remote education may be provided when pupils are unable to attend school due to:

School closure or restricted attendance
-
Exceptional circumstances as directed by the school or local authority
Our Approach to Remote Learning
We aim to deliver remote learning that is:
-
Accessible to all pupils
-
Aligned with the school curriculum
-
Appropriate for pupils’ age and stage

Pupils engage with learning as consistently as possible
-
Parents and carers support routines where they are able
-
Completed work is submitted according to teacher guidance
We do not expect parents to replace the role of the teacher.
Supporting Pupils with SEND
Remote learning is adapted to meet the needs of pupils with SEND:
-
Differentiated tasks and resources
-
Reasonable adjustments to expectations
-
Ongoing communication with families
-
Support from SEND staff where appropriate
Assessing and Feedback
Teachers will:
-
Review work submitted remotely
-
Provide feedback through the online platform or email
-
Use assessment information to inform future planning
This ensures learning continues to build on pupils’ prior knowledge.
Safeguarding and Online Safety
Safeguarding remains a priority during remote learning:
-
All online platforms are school-approved
-
Live sessions follow school safeguarding guidance
-
Parents are encouraged to supervise online activity
-
Online safety guidance is shared regularly
Any safeguarding concerns should be reported to the school immediately.
Keeping in Touch
We maintain regular contact with pupils and families through:

Online platforms
-
Email or telephone calls

If families experience difficulties accessing remote learning, they are encouraged to contact the school so support can be provided.
